The late arrival of winter this year left us wondering whether it'd actually hit us at all. It turns out, it did - but with the rain and southerly winds comes the robust Wellingtonian attitude. The collective need to resist the urge to hibernate, and instead get involved in as many mid-winter events as possible! So we begin with our Jazz Festival collaborations.
The Jazz Riders will be making several special appearances during the week running up to the Jazz Festival. These shows will have musicians on our Rickshaw bicycle, completely impromptu and completely mobile! We assure you that this will be a site to see. The ultimate combination - jazz and bicycles.
Thursday 2nd of June we have the wonderful Hannah Fraser and Gerard Crewdson appearing on Cuba Street from 12.30pm starting at Martha's Pantry en-route to Cuba Mall for a mobile procession paying homage to the ever evolving music and styles of Sun Ra, Pharaoh Sanders and others.
Friday the 3rd Hannah will be riding with a special guest jazz rider and the procession will begin at midland park on Lampton Quay at 12.30pm.
Finally on Saturday the 11th Hannah and Gerard return starting at the Night Market on lower Cuba Street at 4.30pm circling around Cuba Mall.
