Over the past few months we've been lucky enough to help set up Arvida Group rest homes around New Zealand with Christiana Trishaws to be enjoyed by the residents. Cycling Without Age is a Norwegian Initiative that was started in 2012 with the aim of getting elderly rest home residents out and about and active in the community. To date the idea has been picked up by rest homes in 26 countries.
Dan travelled to eight homes around the country to personally demonstrate to the staff how the bikes are set-up, how they function and how they should be maintained. The residents he took for rides were all extremely thankful and absolutely loved reliving the experience of being on a bicycle again - a sensation they potentially haven't experienced in decades. Helping with this project has been very rewarding and we're hoping to be providing more trishaws to rest homes early in the new year!
