As a shop we quite often go for gravel rides around Pōneke. A recent thought that crossed our mind was, “why not make it an open invitation?”.
So here we are. The first of a summer series of gravel rides with us, Bicycle Junction!
WHAT: Come for a gravel ride. We think you might enjoy it!
WHEN: Saturday 13th January, Depart 930am. Arrive from 9am for filter coffee or tea.
WHERE: Meet at Bicycle Junction!
We’ll keep it simple first up, a gentle ride up Waimapihi trails to Hawkins Hill Radar Dome then a descent into red rocks. Emphasis is on a good time - so a casual pace will be employed.
If we get enough interest, we’ll have refreshments and a snack at the Radar Dome delivered by cargo bike.
You’ll have two options from the Dome – continue with us into Red Rocks or, if you're pressed for time, finish early and head back towards town. The Red Rocks descent can get technical at times and might require a little hike-a-bike. We’ll be in no rush, so if you’re up for the adventure stick with us! All up this route it about 30km and ~4 hours at a cruisy pace.
We recommend bikes with tyre size 40mm or wider. Needless to say all bikes welcome!
We'll have some tools on hand for mechanicals but please bring a spare tube and plenty of water!
RSVP: So we have an idea of numbers please register your keeness here.
