David Klein is a science storyteller based in Wellington. Being a bit of a ‘science guy’ his whole life, Klein received a Bachelor of Science from Canterbury University in 2011. During his studies, he was a host on the student radio stations and found he really enjoyed public speaking and sharing his ideas. After moving to Wellington in 2013, he started going to theatre shows. His ‘give it a go’ attitude lead to the development of Toward a Better Understanding of the Universe for the New Zealand Fringe Festival in 2015. This was well received, and won Best Newcomer. The show was also performed in the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Early in 2016, Klein realised that the thing he most wanted to do was present the show all over New Zealand. As a cyclist, it’d be by bike. And Tour de Science was born! Cycle into town with a bike full of simple props, present the show in a hall to an eager audience, then cycle to the next town. To help make the trip run smoothly, we kitted him out with a Surly Big Dummy, so David will be getting from town to town comfortably and in style! Catch the show at a town near you this Summer.
