Surly

Surly Bridge Club 700c

What it’s built for:

The Bridge Club is the latest addition to Surly’s large an illustrious line of touring bikes, it was made to play hopscotch across the line between on-road touring and dirt-bound bike packing. For the 700c variant Surly has certainly steered a bit more towards the paved & graded crowd but this bike is certainly still up for plenty of adventures. At 700 you can comfortably run a 47c tyre (with fenders!) which ought to suit you just fine for everything up to true singletrack. It shares much of its DNA with their iconic Troll and Ogre bikes but makes things a bit more user-friendly with a simpler dropout system and only the most popular braze-ons, while still offering heaps of versatility for nearly any setup you want to throw at it.

Why we love it:

We love ourselves a classic Surly touring bike but let’s face it bikes like the Troll can be a bit much for many riders. Complex dropout systems and a head-scratching number of braze-ons are great if you have a setup that directly requires them, but most riders frankly don’t. Surly has kept everything you need and nothing you don’t with the Bridge Club. We loved the original 27.5” version of the bike but the recent addition of this super-adaptable 700c version has us over the moon. Being such a good bike for the daily commute, and your next epic tour has us recommending the 700c Bridge Club more than any other Surly in the stable.

Stop by and take a Bridge Club for a spin today!

Though we’re a bike shop that sells, builds and fixes bicycles, they’re really just the means to an end; albeit a beautifully designed means to an idyllic end. Our job most importantly is to encourage as many people as we can to get out and ride for transport and enjoyment. We'd love to make riding a bike as commonplace as your morning cup of coffee, which by the way is our other obsession.

Bicycle Junction is situated at 1 Marion St, Te Aro, Wellington.
