What it’s built for:
The Straggler is a long-time Surly classic, billed as “the mountain bikers road bike” it’s made to push the pavement with the best of ‘em but not shy away when things head off the beaten path. They stripped down the braze-ons and configuration options to only the most popular meaning it’s intended a bit more as a commuter/ daily driver/ light touring rig than some of their more long haul touring steeds. But don’t let that fool you, it’s still a Surly and options abound including two different wheel sizes. This 700c variant is the original for highly efficient pavement rolling while still accommodating a 41c width (with fenders of course!).

Bike nerds around the globe have been riding Stragglers for years and years, and that’s because for the money it’s really tough to beat one for daily riding. You could easily swing a leg over every morning for your commute and let that be that, the Straggler would certainly be happy to take you along. But those who dream in bikes will recognize the sublime versatility of this bike. Add a frame bag and a big seat pack, it’ll happily head out on a tour. Throw some slicks on it and she’ll ride road until your legs come off. Bolt-on a 24-pack rack and cart along some goodies for our next bike rave. It’s an affordable bike that’s ready to do quadruple duty.
