Dan

Dan worked his way around the world as a bike-messenger and chef. His two passions of hospitality and bikes have come together to give Bicycle Junction its unique flavour. Dan completed his chef’s apprenticeship in Copenhagen. His Danish heritage dictates that cycling runs through his veins and even as he completed his education he plied the streets of Copenhagen as a messenger and rickshaw rider. He believes strongly that cycling is for all, not just enthusiasts or sportspeople. You will find him riding either his Surly Steamroller fixed gear or riding with his three children in the Christiania Cargo Bike.

Ezra

You may have seen Ezra lugging camera gear between shoots on the weekend atop his vintage road bike. Or perhaps you've crossed paths with him lugging guitar amps between Cuba Street music venues on one of our cargo bikes. He's a busy man with his sights set on multiple creative projects at any one time - but he doesn't let that get in the way of providing the common Newtown folk with a delicious morning coffee, some light hearted banter and a friendly face. A dedicated musician, videographer and street-cruising bike enthusiast - if you haven't met him in our shopfront already, you're bound to see him somewhere around Wellington in the near future. Don't be a stranger!

Ilya

Whether on his mountain bike in the wilderness, his touring bike in European Alps or fixing bikes in our cosy little workshop - Ilya is at home. Trained by Norwegian bicycle masters in their home territory, his knowledge is extensive and his skills are well honed. Oh, he’s also a bloody nice guy! Always up for a chin-wag and happy to share his well-traveled expertise from both in and out of the workshop. Furthermore, check out that beard!

Catarina

Catarina hails from bike-friendly cities in the States such as Portland and NYC. She was named after the lead-female character in the classic bike film, Breaking Away. Her passion for getting more people on bikes ramped up during her years in Christchurch, running a local bike kitchen. She landed her dream job as Marketing and Community Manager in April and really loves the Wellington cycle scene-- full of lights and less lycra. When not riding, Catarina can be found drinking copious amounts of coffee or surfing in Lyall Bay.

Stuart

Stuart was a self-confessed car nerd when he lucked into his first job in a bike store at 17. The same level of nerdiness has carried over into his passion for cycling. If it’s not slipping sideways down some muddy stopbank, it’s thinking through all the ways to go slowly, carry too much, and go too far on bicycles. He’ll be stoked to make a plan to help you revamp anything cheap and cheerful you bring our way. Stuart is always up for a yarn, a tall tale, hyperbole, and to just get silly on, or adjacent to bicycles.

Audrey

A recent addition to Bicycle Junction family, Audrey shares an enthusiasm for bikes, coffee, and community. She learned to ride here in Wellington, tearing up the local school basketball courts and Oriental Bay. Later, she hit the streets of Christchurch where she developed her skills and confidence in biking for transport. Audrey is a big advocate for the environmental pros of cycling, and has recently developed an interest in the inner workings of bikes and their moving parts. When she's not making your flat white or learning mechanics, Audrey is busy tending to her vege garden, getting fired up about politics, or enjoying the local music scene.

Greg

Born in London and raised in Sussex, Greg discovered a passion for cycling in his early twenties. Racing on the road and exploring Europe by bike, cycling became a big part of his life. Working in the UK bicycle industry for several years he has developed a varied knowledge of all things bike. After exploring New Zealand's best mountain biking spots for a summer he found Wellington and the Bicycle Junction the place he wanted to be!
