Faraday Cortland S
Faraday began when a team of designers and engineers was asked to design the ultimate modern utility bicycle. The challenge was posed by the Portland-based bicycle design and innovation contest the Oregon Manifest. Faraday saw an opportunity to create a totally unique electric bike and worked nights and weekends for 6 long months to bring that vision to life.
Faraday was unveiled alongside entries from some of the top design firms and bike builders in the US. In online judging, voters from around the world selected Faraday as the People’s Choice winner.
Faraday’s success showed the enormous potential for a better electric bike. On the heels of one successful popular vote, Faraday turned to Kickstarter for its commercial launch. Faraday Bicycles was founded and Kickstarted on July 19, 2012, reaching its funding goal of $100,000 within a week and going on to raise over $175,000 from hundreds of backers around the world.
By January, 2014, Faraday’s first production run of Porteurs was underway. They worked with their manufacturing partners to address problems and practice continual improvement – part of Faraday’s tireless commitment to refining and enhancing their products.
All the power and style you expect from Faraday in a more affordable package. The Cortland S features steel fenders, Duracork grips, mechanical disc brakes, an efficient chain drive, and 8-speed derailleur, making it great for zipping wherever you need to go.
The Cortland S is available in Classic White and Slate Grey. It’s also available in Small or Medium. You can add a front or rear rack and many other accessories soon to be launched in NZ.

SIZE AND GEOMETRY
The Cortland S wide, swept-back bars are designed to place the rider in a comfortable, upright position that’s easy on the back and provides great visibility of cars and other cyclists around you.
The chart above offers a guide for which Cortland is right for you. While height is a good indicator of size, we also recommend measuring your inseam from the floor up, while wearing shoes, and comparing that to the “Standover” height in the chart.
