Riese & Müller

Riese & Müller Charger GT Vario HS

What it's built for:

The Charger is Riese & Müller’s venerable do-it-all city commuter. A hardtail frame and suspension fork balance performance and comfort for an unbeatable ride whether you’re headed to work or off out on gravel roads for a weekend adventure. As with all R&M’s you have a plethora of color and configuration options to get a bespoke bike built just for you. This Vario version uses an R&M specific Enviolo infinite-shift internal-hub gearing system that provides a wide range with no conventional “gears”; the chain is then replaced with an ultra-low maintenance belt for hassle-free riding. The HS version upgrades to Bosch’s Performance Line Speed motor which increases maximum assisted speed to a zippy 45kph.

Why we love it:

The Charger finds a perfect balance between performance, utility, and comfort making it an electric commuter that’s hard not to love. With an integrated rear cargo carrier and optional front rack, you’ll have plenty of options for taking everything you need along, while a fully-equipped build kit means this bike is ready to ride every day as soon as it leaves the shop. But the Charger goes further than other commuter bikes with a capable ride and build kit that is begging to leave the city streets behind on the weekends and get out to explore.

Though we’re a bike shop that sells, builds and fixes bicycles, they’re really just the means to an end; albeit a beautifully designed means to an idyllic end. Our job most importantly is to encourage as many people as we can to get out and ride for transport and enjoyment. We'd love to make riding a bike as commonplace as your morning cup of coffee, which by the way is our other obsession.

Bicycle Junction is situated at 1 Marion St, Te Aro, Wellington.
