What it's built for:

On its own, the Spicy Curry is Yuba's full-blown electric longtail cargo bike. Yuba describes it as the ultimate cargo machine on two wheels - which is not far from the truth in our minds. Here at Bicycle Junction we like to push the limits of what a bike can be - sometimes a little far and a little quirky - think our infamous sound bike and jacuzzi bike (if you've been lucky enough to witness it). However, creating an all-terrain Spicy Curry seems not that far out there - if even a logical evolution on what is already a great platform.

What is the Yuba Spicy Curry:

The Spicy sets itself apart in two ways. First, it uses a sturdy, low 20" rear wheel making loading up the rear of the bike with kiddos and groceries alike, a snap. Second, it employs Bosch's unparalleled Performance Cargo Line Speed motor for maximum power helping you power up even the steepest hills with all your loaded up cargo. It completes the package with a natural-riding 26" front wheel, meaning even new riders can feel comfortable cruising the city streets rain or shine.

Why we love it:

The Spicy has been a bit of a shop celebrity at Bicycle Junction for a while now; as our shop bike, it has hauled all kinds of cargo all over Wellington even going so far as to carry along an additional trailer for a truly ludicrous amount of cargo capacity. We chose it for its unique combination of a low center of gravity, powerful motor, and huge suite of Yuba attachments that make it one of the most versatile longtails on the street. If you're around town you've likely seen our team carting kids (and adults), food for the cafe, product for the floor, and even other bikes around with our Spicy, and at every step we've loved how naturally it rides and how much oomph the Bosch CLS motor provides in times of need.

The Spicy Curry was chosen among 500 bicycle products by the world's largest bike show the Eurobike Show. It was awarded the Gold Award.

What’s new? The new Bosch cargo-line speed motor designed especially for cargo bikes provides support up to 45kph and enables load-controlled acceleration, even when starting off. The Powerpack 500 offers increased capacity and range, and the Kiox Color Display riding data and transmit it via Bluetooth to the Bosch eBike Connect app on a smartphone.

We’ve also added front and rear thru axles to increase the rigidity of the wheel-frame interface and allow more accurate wheel placement; added new hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes for incredible stopping power, and put the much-loved Spicy Curry geometry on top of new, wider tires from Schwalbe, for better handling and comfort.
