Brooks Saddles

We’ve had Brooks in the shop since the beginning of time – Bicycle Junction time that is. It is the one saddle that we most trust with our butts. It did not begin there however, since their founding in 1866, Brooks saddles have been crafted by hand to timeless designs and become the choice of riders across the world. Those who have been in the cycling game for a minute will know Brooks as the crème de la crème of saddles – comfort and durability are often the first words that come to mind.

However, for most customers, there is one aspect of Brooks saddles that can be overwhelming – “Which Brooks saddle is right for me?”

Their leather saddles come in different shapes and styles depending on what kind of bike or riding position. For example, the Brooks Flyer is a wider saddle with springs and is ideal for an upright, 90-degree posture. Middle widths are often used for touring or commuting when the spinal angle of the rider is in a 45 to 60 degrees position. Generally, the more athletic or “sporty” the riding position, the narrower the saddle.

The B17 is the most popular of the bunch – and it just makes sense. It’s the most versatile of the range. Well suited for commuting, gravel, and touring. Designed for a 60-degree riding position, it’s both comfortable when you simply want to cruise and aggressive enough if you’re feeling sporty. If you’re a smaller rider the B17 Short is a great option, and for those who desire pressure relief ask about the carved variant.

Brooks saddles come with a 10-year guarantee however, if you expect to put your saddle through its paces the B17 Special could be just the fit. With larger copper rivets they provide stronger support to the leather – they also look great!

If you’re not into leather or the maintenance require with the B17, the Cambium is an excellent option. Made from vulcanized natural rubber and organic cotton canvas this saddle is not only for the conscious minded but beautiful to look at - the Cambium elevates any bike you put it on.

Where the Cambium C17 shares similarities with the B17 in form, the C15 and C13 are Brook’s more racier saddles. Design for the active and sporty “cyclist”, these saddles are well suited for drop bar bikes and those after a more aggressive 45-degree riding position.
