FAQ: How much weight can cargo bikes carry?

Load capacity varies by cargo bike type, and the practical limit isn’t always just the number on the frame. On non-electric bikes especially, your legs will often decide what’s realistic — 100kg in a cargo bay takes a fair bit of power to get moving.

Utility bike: Front rack 10–15kg, rear rack around 35kg.

Mid-tail: Front rack around 20kg, rear rack around 65kg.

Longtail: Usually around 200kg total weight limit, including the rider.

Front loader: Usually around 160–200kg total weight limit, including the rider.

These figures are a general guide only. The specific load capacity for each bike is listed in its product specifications, and limits may also apply to individual racks, seats or cargo areas.
