Long-John Cargo Bikes became popular in 1920's Copenhagen and were used primarily by tradesmen and grocers for carting their tools and wares. Long-John bikes are characterised by their large and low cargo tray in front of the rider and behind the small front wheel. Many of the original Long-Johns remained in use since those early days. As good condition Long Johns became scarce in the 1990's, modern designs began to appear such as the Bullitt and a revival occurred. Nowadays Long-Johns are just as likely to carry children as they are tools, groceries and courier packages.
