A custom Wilde Rambler, built to be entirely itself.
“Be yourself, everyone else is taken.”
Pretty sure Oscar Wilde was a fan of bikes back in the day. And if he were around now, we reckon he’d approve of this custom-built Wilde Rambler.
This is our first time riding a fully built Wilde, and gosh, we were taken aback by just how comfy and compliant the frameset feels. It has that lovely steel thing going on. Smooth without feeling sleepy. Comfortable without feeling dull. Ready for long days, rough roads, and a decent bit of mischief.
This one was built for a customer, but after spending a bit of time with it, we might have to get one for ourselves.
The build keeps things practical, capable, and clean. Maxxis Reaver 700 x 45c tyres give it plenty of grip and volume for gravel, broken seal, and mixed-surface adventures. Wheelworks W:Three wheels bring a strong, dependable base, while the Shimano GRX 610 groupset keeps the shifting crisp and familiar.
A 12-speed 10–51T cassette paired with a Shimano GRX 42T chainring gives the Rambler a wide gear range for steep climbs, loaded rides, and the kind of terrain where you’re very happy to have one more easy gear tucked away. Easton finishing kit rounds the build out with a tidy, reliable cockpit.
It’s a bike with a clear sense of itself. Comfortable, capable, and quietly very cool.
