We are all familiar with the Yuba Spicy Curry as "your second car," "the cargo hauler," or "the family wagon." But does it possess an adventurous side? The answer is a definite yes! Let's delve into what we did to unlock its adventurous potential.

Introducing - The Spicy Mule

On its own, the Spicy Curry is Yuba's full-blown electric longtail cargo bike. Yuba describes it as the ultimate cargo machine on two wheels - which is not far from the truth in our minds. Here at Bicycle Junction we like to push the limits of what a bike can be - sometimes a little far and a little quirky - think our infamous sound bike and jacuzzi bike (if you've been lucky enough to witness it). However, creating an all-terrain Spicy Curry seems not that far fetched - even a logical evolution on what is already a great platform.

So what does a Spicy Curry need to become "all-terrain". First on the agenda - suspension. We hit up our friends at Shockcraft in Alexandra to build a fork worthy and capable of handling off road excursions. The result is 80mm of finely tuned travel in the form of a Manitou Circus fork.

Next up - tyres. With a 26" wheel up front and 20" out the back we thought it'd be hard finding a matching pair worthy of this build. But Schwalbe came to the party with the "Smart Sam" - an all-terrain tyre optimised for electric bikes and their mixed wheel sizes. Easy choice!

Outside of the luxury of the sealed road, a bike without rear suspension can spell trouble for you lower back. To work around this we installed Cane Creek's Thudbuster suspension seatpost - offering 80mm of finely tuned, stiction free, impact absorbing elastomer goodness.

What would a custom build be without a custom paint job. We tasked Powder Coating Services in Petone, Wellington to create the hardest wearing finish, capable of any abuse that may be thrown at it - the result a beautifully subtle hammered black metallic finish.

Compatible with our custom tow-ball and hitch - throw on a trailer, or a bike rack for the ultimate adventure. It's that easy. This one of a kind Spicy Curry could be yours.
