The ABUS Numero 5510C is a simple combination cable lock for low-risk bike parking. It is best suited to entry-level bikes, kids’ bikes, quick café stops, or adding a little extra security to accessories.

It is not the lock we would recommend for a high-value commuter, e-bike, or any bike being left outside for long periods. For that, step up to a stronger D-lock, folding lock, or chain. But if you want something light, easy to use, and simple to share between riders, the Numero 5510C makes sense.

Product type: Combination cable lock

Best use: Low-risk stops, kids’ bikes, entry-level bikes and accessory security

Cable diameter: 10 mm

Length: 180 cm

Locking type: Individually configurable number combination

Good to know: Cable locks are convenient, but not a high-security choice for expensive bikes

Why we like it

The Numero 5510C is easy to live with. The 180 cm spiral cable gives you enough length to get around a frame, wheel, rack, or awkward bike stand, while the combination lock means there is no key to lose.

The plastic coating helps protect your bike’s paint, and the number rollers are made to stay readable over time. For families, shared bikes, or kids who are likely to lose keys, the code setup is the main appeal.

Best for

  • Kids’ bikes at school or sports practice
  • Entry-level bikes parked in low-risk areas
  • Quick daytime stops where the bike stays visible
  • Securing helmets, baskets, trailers, or accessories
  • Households where more than one person needs to use the same lock

Good to know

This is a convenience lock, not a high-security lock. Cable locks can be cut much more easily than a proper D-lock, folding lock, or chain. If you are locking a valuable bike, especially an e-bike, cargo bike, or daily commuter, we would recommend choosing a stronger lock instead.

For better security, park in a well-lit spot with good line of sight, lock the frame to something fixed, and avoid leaving the bike outside overnight where possible.

Final word

The ABUS Numero 5510C is a practical little lock for simple jobs. Choose it when convenience, length, and a no-key setup matter most. Choose something stronger if the bike is valuable, parked for long periods, or left somewhere with higher theft risk.
