The ABUS Shield 5755L XPlus NR is a frame-mounted rear wheel lock for fast, everyday bike security. It sits over the rear wheel and locks it in place, making it much harder for someone to simply roll the bike away.

Compatibility and fit

This lock is designed to mount near the rear wheel using standard frame-lock eyelets. Bicycle Junction lists the mounting eyelet spacing as 68 to 85 mm. Fit still depends on the bike frame, tyre width, mudguards, rack, child seat, kickstand and any cargo accessories.

The internal clearance is 78 mm wide x 108 mm high. That gives useful room for many wider-tyre city bikes and e-bikes, but the lock still needs to sit squarely over the rear wheel without touching the tyre or mudguard.

A frame lock is very convenient, but it does not automatically secure the bike to a fixed object. For proper parking, especially with an e-bike, cargo bike or higher-value commuter, use it with a compatible plug-in chain, D-lock, folding lock or chain lock.

For quick stops, the Shield 5755L XPlus NR is fast and easy. For longer parking, lock the frame to something fixed, choose a visible and well-lit spot, and use a stronger second lock where needed.
