BASIL BICYCLE CRATE SMALL - 17.5L

Ask A Question x

The Basil Bicycle Crate Small is a compact way to add open storage to your bike. With 17.5 litres of space, it is useful for smaller loads like lunch, a lock, a jacket, kids’ gear, a few groceries or the everyday bits you do not want to carry on your back.

This is the crate to choose when you want handy storage without adding too much bulk to the bike. It works well for light errands, short local trips and smaller front or rear rack setups where a larger crate would feel like overkill.

Why we like it

A small crate makes the bike more useful without turning it into a full cargo setup. You can drop things straight in, ride to the shop, pick up a few bits, or carry the daily extras that usually end up swinging from your handlebars.

The smaller size is the main point. It is easier to live with on compact bikes, city bikes, kids’ bikes, front racks and smaller rear rack setups where a medium or large crate may feel too bulky.

Best for

Choose this crate if you want light, simple storage for short trips and small loads. It suits local errands, school gear, locks, layers, snacks, small grocery runs and general town riding.

Choose the medium or large crate if you regularly carry bigger shopping loads, work gear or bulky bags. Choose a pannier or waterproof bag if you need weather protection or laptop storage.

Good to know

This crate does not include the MIK adapter plate. If you want a removable MIK setup, add the Basil MIK system separately.

Check your rack or carrier before fitting. The crate needs to be mounted securely, and the bike or carrier must be rated for the load you plan to carry. The lowest-rated part of the setup sets the real carrying limit.

This is open storage, so it will not keep your gear dry in the rain. For wet commutes or carrying electronics, use a waterproof bag inside the crate or choose a sealed pannier instead.
