Made from non-toxic, easy-clean plastic in Basil’s Faded Denim finish, it comes with a pre-mounted MIK adapter plate, cushion and safety strap. Once fitted to a compatible MIK carrier or MIK carrier plate, the basket can click on and off the bike, which is handy when you want to take it inside or remove it when it is not needed.

Why we like it
The rear-mounted Buddy is a tidy option if you want to bring a smaller dog along without using a trailer or front handlebar basket. It keeps the dog behind you on the rear carrier and gives them a shaped basket with a cushion and strap included.
The MIK setup is the main practical benefit. Once your bike has a compatible MIK carrier or carrier plate, the basket can be removed from the bike rather than being a permanent fixture. That is useful if you share the bike, park outside, or only bring your dog along on some rides.
Best for
Choose this if you have a smaller dog and want a rear basket for short local trips, café rides, gentle errands or rides to the park. It is best for steady everyday riding rather than fast, rough or off-road use.
Choose a trailer or cargo bike setup if your dog is too large, too heavy, or needs more room to settle comfortably.
Good to know
This is the MIK rear version and includes the pre-mounted MIK adapter plate. Your bike still needs a compatible MIK carrier or MIK carrier plate for fitting.
The basket is rated to carry up to 15 kg, but your rear carrier must also be rated for the total load. The lowest-rated part of the setup sets the real carrying limit.
Your dog also needs to fit comfortably inside the basket, not just sit under the weight limit. If they are wriggly, nervous or likely to try climbing out, consider adding the Basil Buddy Space Frame, sold separately.
The basket is easy to clean, which matters with wet paws, beach trips and everyday use. The cushion can be removed when needed.
