The Basil Buddy Front Bicycle Basket is made for carrying a small dog on the front of your bike. It gives your dog a stable place to sit, with a soft cushion for comfort and a safety strap to help keep them secure while you ride.

This faded denim version includes the Basil KF handlebar fittings, so the basket can click on and off the bike once fitted. It is a practical setup for short local trips, gentle rides, café stops and bringing your dog along when they are small enough to travel safely up front.

Why we like it

The Buddy makes it easier to bring a small dog along without needing a trailer or rear carrier setup. Having your dog up front also means you can keep an eye on them while you ride, which is useful if they are still getting used to bike trips.

The plastic basket is easy to clean, which matters with pets, wet paws and everyday use. The included cushion gives your dog a more comfortable base, while the safety strap helps stop them from jumping out of the basket.

Best for

Choose this if you have a smaller dog up to 5 kg and want a front-mounted basket for short, steady rides around town. It is best suited to gentle trips, local errands and relaxed riding rather than fast or rough riding.

Choose a different setup if your dog is over the weight limit, needs more space, or if your bike does not have enough clear handlebar area for the KF fitting. A rear dog basket, trailer or cargo bike setup may be better for larger dogs.

Good to know

The Basil Buddy KF should be mounted using the included Basil KF handlebar holder. Before fitting, check there is enough space around your handlebars, brake hoses, gear cables, lights and any e-bike display.

The 5 kg carrying capacity is the upper limit for the basket. Your dog needs to fit comfortably inside the basket as well as stay within the weight limit.

The Basil Buddy Space Frame is sold separately. It adds a wire dome over the basket, which can be useful if your dog is wriggly or if you want extra containment while riding.
