Brooks Cambium C19 Range

Ask A Question x

The Brooks Cambium C19 is the wider, more upright saddle in the Cambium range. It is made for city riding, relaxed touring, cargo bikes and everyday comfort, especially if your riding position is more upright than sporty.

Instead of a leather top, the C19 uses vulcanised natural rubber with a waterproof nylon cover. That gives it a flexible feel from the first ride, with no leather break-in period and less day-to-day care than a traditional Brooks leather saddle.

Why we like it

The C19 is a good option when a narrower saddle feels too firm or too sporty. Its wider shape gives more support for riders who sit more upright, which makes sense on city bikes, cargo bikes, relaxed commuters and touring bikes with a higher handlebar position.

The Cambium top is the other big reason to choose it. It has a bit of natural flex, handles wet weather better than leather, and does not need the same break-in period as a B17 or Flyer. For riders who leave the bike outside, ride in normal clothes, or want something ready to go straight away, that matters.

Best for

Choose the C19 if you ride in a relaxed or upright position and want a wide saddle for commuting, town riding, casual touring or cargo bike use. It suits riders who want Brooks comfort and styling, but do not want leather care or a long break-in period.

Choose a C17 if you ride in a slightly more forward position and want a narrower Cambium. Choose a B17 or Flyer if you want the traditional Brooks leather feel and are happy to give the saddle time to shape to you.

Setup options

C19 All Weather is the standard version, with the full Cambium top for upright riding and all-weather use.

C19 All Weather Carved adds a central cut-out for pressure relief and a little extra flex. Choose this if you usually prefer saddles with a relief channel or find pressure through the centre of the saddle uncomfortable.

Good to know

The C19 is best suited to upright riding positions. If your bike has a low, forward road or gravel position, a narrower Brooks saddle like the C17, Swift or Swallow will usually make more sense.

The bag loops on the backplate are useful for small saddle bags, but check the bag weight before loading it. Brooks lists a 2.5 kg maximum load for the backplate loops.

This is an all-weather saddle, not a soft gel saddle. The comfort comes from the wider shape and flexible Cambium top rather than thick padding.
