Brooks Flyer Saddles

Ask A Question x

If this isn't the Flyer you're looking for get in touch! We can usually get them all.

The Brooks Flyer is classic B17 comfort with rear suspension springs. It is made for riders who like the shape and feel of a leather Brooks saddle, but want extra cushioning for rough roads, long rides and everyday commuting.

This is a good match for touring bikes, upright commuters, city bikes and classic builds where comfort matters more than saving weight. The leather top breaks in over time, while the rear springs help take the sting out of rough chipseal, potholes and uneven streets.

Why we like it

The Flyer makes sense for riders who want a Brooks saddle for comfort, not speed. It uses the familiar B17-style leather top, then adds rear springs for a little more give over rough roads and longer days.

That extra spring support is useful on bikes without much built-in comfort. Think steel touring bikes, upright commuters, town bikes and older-style builds where a firmer racing saddle would feel out of place.

Best for

Choose the Flyer if you ride in an angled or more upright position and want a leather saddle for commuting, touring, town riding or relaxed longer rides. It is best for riders who value comfort, durability and classic Brooks style over low weight.

Choose a B17 if you want the classic Brooks leather feel without springs. Choose a Swift or Swallow if you ride in a more forward road or gravel position and want a narrower saddle.

Setup options

Flyer Standard is the original sprung leather saddle based on the B17 shape.

Flyer Short is a shorter version suited to smaller riders or riders who prefer a shorter saddle shape.

Flyer Softened uses pre-treated leather for a shorter break-in period.

Flyer Special adds hand-finished details, including copper rivets, for a more traditional Brooks finish.

Good to know

The Flyer is not a lightweight saddle. The springs add comfort, but they also add weight, so this is not the choice for a minimal road or race build.

Like most leather Brooks saddles, the Flyer needs time to break in. It will feel firmer at first, then gradually shape to the rider with use.

Leather saddles need care. Keep it out of heavy rain where possible, use suitable Brooks leather care when needed, and fit a saddle cover if the bike is often parked outside.
