The Dark Star is Wilde’s premium steel hardtail, built around their exclusive BOSS Super Tubeset and equipped with sliding dropouts for adaptable handling and singlespeed capability. Adjust your wheelbase, tune your ride feel, run gears or go silent—this frame is built to shape-shift with your style.
Designed around a 120–130 mm suspension fork or Wilde’s Future Proof rigid fork, the Dark Star blends playful handling with all-day pedal efficiency. On tight, techy singletrack or big climbing days, it feels lively the moment you lay into the pedals.
Modern jargon might call it a “downcountry” bike, but to me it’s simply the perfect all-around MTB for daily off-road riding.
While many current hardtails are getting longer and slacker, I think that trend misses the point for a 120–130 mm bike. I reach for a hardtail when I want maximum fun on tight trails, or when I have a lot of pedalling to do—commutes to the trailhead, big climbs, races, or long-distance missions.
Here’s what I want from my hardtail:
It should feel fast immediately, and turn on a dime.
It should be flickable, encouraging you to hit every side hit and bonus line.
It should handle well when descending and when riding slowly through tricky terrain.
The Dark Star’s 66.5° head angle strikes the balance between confidence and precision. A slightly taller bottom bracket keeps you clear of rocks and makes popping off features easy. With 425–440 mm adjustable chainstays, you can tune the feel for your terrain.
A short-travel hardtail should be immediate gratification—fun from the carpark, the footpath, the fire road, anywhere. Race it, shred it, or load it for a bikepacking trip. It’s sharp without being twitchy; capable without being overbuilt.
The Dark Star is manufactured by the talented crew at ORA, Taiwan.
We can also build yours up any way you want, we'd love to create your dream machine according to your taste and budget.
