The Cargo Bike Picnic is one of our favourite events of the year. Personally it's rewarding as it gives us the chance to connect cargo bike families who have frequented the shop but have yet to cross wheels. From the get go at Bicycle Junction we've always been about building a community - hosting event like these remind us of why where here and why we do what we do.
We've got a little greedy this year so instead of hosting one picnic we're holding three! With Scorching Bay being our annual roost for the picnic we had no doubts it was going to be the biggest, and with it coinciding with Shelly Play (the closure of the coastal road to cars) created a beautiful storm that saw at a rough count over 35 cargo bikes each carrying 1-3 passengers - what a sight!
We started the day at Shelly Bay's Chocolate Fish Cafe. From there we cruised around the northern coastal road of Miramar to Scorching Bay for a feast, games and catch ups with new friends and old.
Next Cargo Bike Picnic is 14th April at Riddiford Park in Lower Hutt. We hope to see you there!
